some serious business

mood: cheerful cheerful

I'll be 20 in less than a month, in my third year of college and now getting a start on the medical career i've always wanted.  I've decided that it's about time for me to move out of my parents' house.  I'll be moving to an apartment with one of my college friends (who's also pre-med, so we can commute together).  We've decided to split the rent once we've found a place and it's looking good so far!   My parents will be on the other side of the city but there will still be distance (and some traffic!) so i feel like I've really moved out.  I'm also starting a new job next week.  I'll be working full-time during the summer in a doctor's office.  I'll only be a receptionist (working with a couple of old ladies, lol) but I'll at least have some experience in a place where I can talk to a doctor once in awhile.  If I like the job and if they're flexible with my part-time hours once school starts I'll hopefully be keeping it for the rest of the school year.

I also got great news today.  My girlfriend's coming to town for part of the week.  we've made plans to see Die Hard 4 on Wednesday.

still not dead!

mood: awake awake

I've been back home since early this month.  but i've been visiting all my relatives and old friends.  I never fail to neglect the journal!

I saw Spider-Man 3 on Saturday with Trent.  we both thought it was terrific.  The critics need to stop their silly nit-picking!  Next on the must-see list is Pirates 3 of course.  And then reading and watching the next Potter installments.  As for the rest of the summer i have until August 23.  what to do, what to do?  Maybe I'll get a job so I won't feel like such a lazy bum.

It's hard to believe I'm already half way through college.  the undergrad part, anyway. ;)

mood: busy busy
music: people arguing outside my door xP

The shootings that happened yesterday at Virginia Tech have left even myself and some of my friends shocked and upset. I have to agree with everyone who asks: what is this world coming to? How many more shootings do we need? :sigh:

But in some more lighthearted news:

- My grandparents gave me a very early birthday present. They ordered the last Harry Potter book for me! :D
- The school year is slowly winding down - or maybe i should say quickly? Only two more weeks until final exams. Please excuse me while i go hide in a corner and freak out. XO All I can say is i love it here at SC. I've made so many friends this year and the classes are more suiting to me than they were at Clemson. the only thing I don't like about this school are the colors: red and black. (just like back in high school, so much red clashes with my hair! lol)
- I've had a little extra time today so i went and read through some of my old journal entries from around the time I graduated high school. wow, i think i've matured a lot since then. and not to mention I used to be a potty mouth, lol. (And my friends and I didn't know how to reply to LJ comments correctly. no one ever corrected us i think. lol)  and it was very strange having to read about my ex.  Kind of reminded me how stupid we both were back then.  but i remind myself there's no reason for me to be sad about it.  I'll be seeing Abby in a few hours for dinner.  I'll be sure to tell her she doesn't give me reason to feel like an idiot. :)
- quiz! )
- and finally, someone I know has a surprise for all of you!  you'll see what I mean later...I hope. :D

fino a presto,
Allen

I'm not dead, I promise! :)

I've neglected my poor LJ.  10 weeks!?  wow, has it really been that long? :o
Anyway i'm not dead, just busy.  very busy.  This semester has been pretty hectic when it comes to school work (and my new part-time job) but otherwise, life is good.  I'm still going out with Abby, and that's going really well.  she's such an awesome girl, she's smart and fun to be with.  Needless to say I'm happy with how it's going.  It was nice to spend Valentine's Day with someone again. :D  But I haven't neglected my old friends like I've done to my LJ.  I've been trying to persuade some of them to come back to LJ because I'm starting to lose contact with them outside of AIM and emailing.  But I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, right?

later days to you all.  I'll try not to be a stranger any more! :)

Some real news for once

Dec. 20th, 2006 | 08:18 pm
mood: happy happy

I met a girl named Abby in my bio class this past semester.  we've been friends for awhile now.  Before break we went to a few basketball games with a group of friends.  we've been talking over the phone during break.  as of yesterday, we've decided to go out.  so now I'm no longer single.  And in the words of my closest friends: it's about time! ;D
Abby and I have a lot in common: we both like a lot of the same things, she's also in the pre-med program, and she's also Jewish.  I remember back to my relationship with Christine which feels like it happened a lifetime ago.  one of the reasons we'd argue would be over our religious differences.  she grew up in a very strong Christian family.  Maybe her parents were ignorant of my religion, but I don't think they ever accepted my lifestyle and beliefs.
I like her a lot, and I'm happy to be with her.  I want to introduce her to my parents sometime soon, and she wants to introduce me to hers.  She's from New York and is up there with her family for the holidays.

here's wishing a happy holidays to everyone, whatever you happen to be celebrating.  (I'm not gutsy enough to just wish someone Happy Hannukah or Merry Christmas.)

I've already thought of one new year's resolution for me: I'll try not to neglect my journal as much as I did this year. ;)
